Maximum Black, More hit than miss...

blackeleph [Edit] [Delete] 13:40, 2 March '08

For all those that attended the Maximum Black gig at the Forum, what did you reckon? Here's my brief breakdown...

Frog eyes i was looking forward to the most and i was only let down on the bad sound setup (was too quiet and poorly mixed!). Still the drummer was pretty captivating and Carey was enigmatic and a real showman. New stuff came across best.

Am a Six Organs fan but found the set a bit dull and didn't fill the space as well as it should have.

Dirty Projectors were a brilliant highlight, one of the best live bands around today, absolutely blew me away.

Alex Tucker and Steven O Malley...Did anyone else think this epitimised the dullness of live post rock? I became perhaps unrationally incensed as they worked the same drone for 45 minutes! I love Tucker's work but for me this went nowhere and was the worst part of the show.

Final Fantasy... sat in the upstairs circle for this, was on a par with the Dirty Projectors brilliance, very cinematic. The guy is a living legend, super talented.

What the rest of y'all think?
