i've realised why i dislike The Decline of British Sea Power

douchebag [Edit] [Delete] 00:03, 18 February '08

that fucking guitar sound. That reverbed to the maxx, hyper compressed shapeless fug which passes for their melodic base. It's near unlistenable on a lot of the tracks (Remember Me is a prime offender). And when it isn't being unlistenable, it's being a flat re-appropriation of epicness

I like "feedback" as much as the next man, but this just isn't it. This is a photocopy of a faint memory of what feedback is, as mastered by that guy who produces Snow Patrol. And i don't think it's been done on purpose - i think it's due to a complete lack of sonic awareness. Ok, the record isn't mixed very well in general (except the vocals), but at least the drums and bass have the decency to not explode your synapses with their shitty sound. Although that might have something to do with them being totally fucking overpowered by the jangle

So yeah, British Sea Power don't care about your ears. Fuck 'em
