although I appreciate the boys got a good voice and can pen a decent tune, i think martin's lyrics are pretty poor.
Every seem seems to contain lots of vague phrases with basic rhyming with themes generally involving waiting, finding, lines, signs , things...its all a bit vague......

But then Noel Gallagher has that problem as well, does any band with mass appeal have to have non-specific lyrics, so people can fit whatever meaning they want to the song??

i like coldplay i just think he's a lazy lyricist when you compare him to someone like Thom Yorke.....

also the piano riff in the new tune is soooooooooooo similar to clocks, structually, musically, harmonically, seems a bit lazy again....
