Our band have recently bought an 8-track digital studio that we've been using for individual demos but we're now looking to record the entire band on it. We're new to recording ourselves so I was hoping that someone here could give us some advice when it comes to recording the kit.

We've only 3 general use mics at the moment but we're thinking of investing in a set of drum mics. Will this be necessary to record the kit? Or do 3 normal mics give much the same effect?
