Hi

I'm slowly waking up to some alt-county folky blues stuff but have no idea what's good and what's not. Can you help/point me in the right direction for songs and artists?

I really like Cat Power, The Boggs, Jesse Malin and Devendra Banhart. I know that for many people on here The Kills or The White Stripes don't perhaps fit the genre i've described,or are 'bad' examples, but i'm looking for that sort of stompy fried sound, but a bit dirtier, or less obvious...does that make sense?!

If you've got any suggestions i'd really appreciate them. thanks!
