There are some bands i used to like and then they became popular...however they did change their sound in order to become popular, i'd still like the older stuff. I hate it when people use the "it's because theyre popular isn't it?" argument against me. Its fucking ridiculous. They don't understand why i don't like Blink and Green day, even when i was a stupid little kid i didn't like them.
Wolf Eyes will never be popular but if they did become popular without compromising their sound then i'd still feel the same. Certain extremes will never be popular among the CD:UK, singles buying masses. Metal wasn't a big seller, so the sub-genre of nu-metal came up, DC Hardcore and early punk became pop/skate punk, which are two extremely popular sub-genres. I can't even persuade people who act as if they know what they are on about to consider some of the stuff i listen to. I was DJing at the cartoon in croydon and the owner or something told me to turn off a song half way through and told me to play some bands like Machine Head which luckily i couldn't do. So yeh, i listen to the same music when out and when home alone, i don't listen to "obscure noise" or whatever when im out but not at home. It isn't all a facade to make me look cool. I just don't like it. Sorry, i would have this rant at some of the people i socialise with but they wouldn't listen...so i killed them. All opinions are appreciated.
