Internet Mix CD
i have an idea for a project that will/could incite great joy discussion and interest.
basically, we should agree (through suggestions, jostling, declamation and resolution) on a tracklisting for an 80 minute cdr (adding 2 seconds to each track cos so many people use WMP) with a small catch:
each and every track on the cd is available free and legitimately (no p2p) on the internet, from artist sites, lable sites, epitonic style stuff... and all available with link that takes you straight to the track, with no sign up bullshit.
then everyone with a decent internet connection and a cdr drive could own the same compilation album. itd be a communal experience. i'm sure someone (maybe even me) could host artwork.
itd probably be skewed towards new bands (as they are the ones who normally have legit mp3s available), but i'm sure that theres some classics out there (and i believe that classics can help ground a compilation, make it less disorienting sometimes).
my suggestions: (not htmled, cos i get the feeling you can only do one html link per post. i may be wrong)
Owls: Everyone is my Friend
http://www.jadetree.com/mp3/Owls-Everyone.mp3
Mystery Jets: On My Feet
http://www.purevolume.com/download.php?id=378400
Hella: Republic of Rough and Ready
http://hellaband.com/media/disco/mp3/republic%20of%20rough%20and%20ready.mp3
when all the tracks are chosen by some kind of general consensus, we then work on a running order...
i just think its a swell idea.
