in which case does a band become not indie as soon as they sign to a label.
and according to google dictionary 'a number of genres... and cultural attributes, characterised by (real or perceived) independence from... mainstream culture and an autonomous, do-it-yourself (DIY) approach.'
if this is the case does it become indie as soon as it becomes popular and mainstream.

the only band i can think of being intrinsically 'indie' at the moment would be CYHSY.
