I was in London at the weekend and found time for a mini-CD spree, of which the only one I've had time to listen to so far is I'm Wide Awake It's Morning by Bright Eyes. It is absolutely fantastic. Its the first Bright Eyes album I've bought but I'm fully converted. The tunes are sweet but the lyrics are what makes it so great - I think it's the right album at the right time for me, and they make so much sense and are so beautiful and desperate and hopeful all at once. Pretty much every song is great but the last song, Road To Joy, is one of the finest songs I've heard in ages. The moment near the end when it explodes into a kaleidoscope of sound is just exhiliarating.
