i think i've worked out why i really can't stand the others. both their earnestness and awful lyrics remind me of music i listened to when i was 12 or 13. specifically they just make me think of listening to Space and trying to work out the significane of their lyrics...and then you listen to them a few years later....
I just have a feeling, and i know this sounds patronising, that in a few years a lot of Others fans might be pretty embarassed when they listen back to that record. And then the other thing is...is it intentionally aimed at 13/14/15 year olds, or are the band members just a little...well simple. The drug taking in front of their young fans makes me suspect the latter.
