Whenever I tell anyone that the Pogues are a great band, they seem to snear and dismiss them as a band who wrote one good song ('Fairytale of New York). I personally think the Pogues are fabulous, and they have loads of great songs, including:

A pair of brown eyes
A rainy night in soho (covered by Nick Cave on that b-sides/covers thing)
Misty Morning Albert Bridge
Thousands are Sailing
Boys from the County Hell

Thats to name but 5. What is your opinion of the Pogues? Is Shane McGowan a lyrical genius? Or are you simply non fussed?
