Crackly Doves
Saw the Doves last night in Wolverhampton and came away disappointed, underwhelmed and generally pissed off.
1 - The main vocal mic crackled all night and the roadies made little or no effort to get it sorted. It got worse in the second half of the set and totally ruined the gig.
2 - The band were a little off on the night. Having admitted that they'd only played live twice in two and a half years - you could really tell. They just lacked that spark and the drummer missed his beats quite a few times.
3 - I was constantly pushed by bell ends who were more interested in getting to the bar than watching the gig, including one fella who literally punched and elbowed his way through the entire crowd.
4 - Some of the new songs sounded a little flat. One or two were good but they seem to be stuck with the Pounding beat.
One good thing that came from the night however, was the discover of The Workhouse (support).
A lovely post rock band akin to Explosions in the Sky and a bargaintastic album on sale there for £8 which was snapped up by my eager mitts.
