Yesterday I went to the pub to watch the football. Nothing particularly crazy there, I do it pretty much every Sunday. Anyway, they've changed our local so you can no longer sit at the bar and smoke, which is what I used to do, so I had to find a table. In front of the screen, the only spare chairs were at a table occupied by an old boy, so I plucked up the courage and asked him if he minded me sitting with him.

So anyway, to cut to the chase, I spent the next six hours (they were that cool I stayed with them for an hour or two after the games) getting exceedingly drunk with five or six people old enough to be my grandparents, and had one of the best and most relaxed Sunday afternoons of my life.

And I'd only intended to go in on my own, as I normally do, have a pint or two and watch a couple of games. Hurray for old people! (Sorry if this bores anyone, but I'm still smiling at the thought of my ace afternonn, and had to tell someone).
