Hear Today, Hear Tomorrow
Bands are generally knocked down and out faster than Lennox Lewis opponents. A select few will manage to stick around long enough to make arthritic Gap commercials and a lethargic half-time performance at the Superbowl.
Me:
Coldplay - After a six year hiatus to raise Apple with wife Gwenyth Paltrow, Chris Martin and friends go platinum on their debut comeback. Critics question a baby talk rap on their single Mustard Diapers, but fans everywhere go wild for Apple scratch 'n sniff inside the deluxe DVD edition.
The Libertines - The long awaited Christmas reunion single finally materializes in 2009. Peter and Carlos declare they're born again Christians. The NME gushes the first Libertines record in five years "bold and brilliant." Within two years they are opening for Brooks and Dunn on the Bible Belt Country and Western circuit.
Radiohead - Undercover reporters from Q magazine discover fourteen year old twins from Iceland provide the band's vocals. In 2012, the Republican party chooses 2+2=5 as its theme song; Pitchfork reluctantly declares the GOP to be the 'hipper' party.
The White Strips - Jack White becomes Britney Spears 4th husband, and Jack, Britney and Meg move to Utah to raise their eleven children. DiS journalist Sean Adams is the first to report Meg Loves Jack as more than just her little brother.
I'm almost positive this is the way it'll go down in history. What's yer crystal ball say? :-)
