What in your opinion is the best portable audio device contraption thesedays?

Recently my Mini-Disc player knacked and i have a lack of personal music. Im thinking of getting an iPod but they are pretty pricey, i reckon i might be better off buying 20CDs and a new portable CD player that works (another thing i have broken). Those weird flash player things also intrigue me, but i dont think they have much of a capacity.
