Cliques And The Future Of Music
Does anyone else feel bands like The Libertines, The Others and the rest of the Rhythm Factory scene are becoming a bit of a clique phenomenon?
There is this big "for the fans" philosophy, but on some levels it doesn't seem to work. It's hard to explain but I feel as though the die-hard, obsessive, "we go back to the singer's flat" fans shut out anybody who's trying to get into the music. It's hard to put into words, but there is something about the attitude of these bands which doesn't make me feel entirely comfortable. I like the music, just the attitude to me feels the opposite of inclusive.
