Ok, so heres the initial line ups. The parties are kind of geared as follows :
The Charlotte : up and coming bands, the dandilions have just played glastonbury, geared to give you somewhere for those with older teenagers up to 20 somethings
Firebug : the zane lowe / xfm / signed label stuff. Tired Irie were in the end of year polls in the NME, have just done a John kennedy session, and toured with Battles and Foals, Pacific Ocean Fire make the most amazing blend of americana cum wilco stuff, Truck festival love them so much they book them every year, Love Ends Disaster have been hot tipped by steve lamacq, colin murray, Bloc Party and Rough Trade, they've supported everyone from the holloways, to foals to youthmovies to babyshambles to INXS to Scouting for Girls to Polytechnic.
The Musician : The credible real ale pub, the Chairmen top the bill, worth going to if you've never been for the beer, let alone the bands.
The Donkey : This years family event, we learnt from last year, and even those of you with kids in push chairs want to and therefore now can come and watch some music, or just listen to it whilst escaping the campsites, it's only a short walk from the festival.
Helsinkis : You wanted a dance night, so we've got you one. The oldest and still trendiest bar in Leicester hosts a warm up party as a part of its 25th birthday celebrations, and we've got the best female dj in the UK to make you dance to the early hours.
The Charlotte (14 ), Firebug (18 ), The Musician (18 ), Donkey (all ages), Helsinki (18 )
NB : All venues will be asking for ID for those of you lucky enough to look under 18. Bring legitimate photo id (passport, driving licence). No University of Leighton Buzzard fake Uni cards or some such.
Venue Closing times : charlotte : 12pm, Firebug : 4am, Musician 11pm, Donkey 11pm, Helsinkis 2am.
wristband costs (not 100% finalised), but budget for £3 a wristband.
Buses and potential comedy gig info to follow.
ALL TICKET MONIES GO TO LOROS : http://www.loros.com/hospice/
All the band and venues are giving up their time for free. All the monies are being donated to LOROS. The hospice for the terminally ill in leicestershire. LOROS provide respite care and also final care for terminally ill people and their families. They need £9 million a year to survive. They have no notable government funding. They raise the money themselves. Very few youngsters seem to know much about them (hospices seem to be ignored by the youth of today). We're very very proud to be able to raise some money for them. We managed over £2000 in 2006. I want to double this in 2008. Don't worry, you wont be able to move for collection buckets in the venues.
