Goodbyeeee... for now.
Hi everyone
After 7 years of non-stop Miss Black America, I've come to realise that I've got to take a break if I'm ever going to want to make music again. We've not exactly been the most successful band in the history of the World, and that's mostly my fault for being, variously, a bigmouth, an idiot, a scumbag and a drunk. It'd be very easy to try and blame other people (the press, record companies, DJs) but in the end, I've been the one in charge all along, and the buck stops with me. I hope that anyone I've fucked over, hurt and/or alienated over the past few years will take some comfort in the fact that Miss Black America's failures are entirely mine, and absolute.
I'm not putting the band on "indefinite hiatus", saying we're outright splitting up, or anything silly like that, but it's definitely time to do a few other things before I go insane (again). The last tour we did (in April/May) was fantastic, and I feel happy that we've promoted 'Terminal' the best of our/my abilities. Admittedly, I've just been chucking boxes of unsold copies into a van so they could be put into storage for the rest of time, but then I never claimed my abilities were up to much anyway.
There've been loads of people who've done loads for us, be it turning up to a gig, buying a record, or spending loads of money to try and help us out. There's a fairly comprehensive list in the sleeve for 'Terminal', so I shan't repeat myself here; but again, to everyone, thankyou.
We've got one more gig booked for this year, at the Underworld in Camden on Saturday 29th July; it'd be nice to see you there, but if not, I'm sure we'll be back sooner or later. In the meantime, we've all got other projects/albums etc. on the go (see the list below), and if anyone fancies jamming with a two-fingered, slightly rubbish guitarist, give me a shout...
Before Miss Black America, I had nothing, and I felt worth nothing. Being in this band helped me find a voice I never knew I had, and in the long run, saved my life. Despite my sense of absolute failure, I'm proud of what we've done, and musically, I have no regrets. Well, except maybe 'Scream For Me'. But, hey - no-one's perfect.
Take it easy
See you around
Love from Seymour
