IN BRIEF
- ROBIN NATURE-BOLD & BAND(ISM) The avant-garde neo-dandy Robin Nature-Bold & Band(ism) are to set to break into heavenly delights with their idiosyncratic psychedelic punk-folk. "They're like a cross between Billy Childish & Rolf Harris" claims Flux Magazine Editor Lee Taylor, other claims include, "Robin Nature-Bold is the love child of Peter Sellers, Andy Warhol and Andy Kauffman after a game of soggy biscuit of which Valerie Solanas ate, then vomited into the croch of Janis Joplin (the story does go on, apparently end's up in some photographic developing fluid)". - www.robinnaturebold.co.uk / www.myspace.com/bandism
- AIR CAV are a Manchester (UK) based band who play ambient, often instrumental, guitar and violin driven music. "Soundscapes have found themselves in something of a revival recently and AIR CAV have the ability to keep it going. Like a geed up Durutti Column or a condensed Engineers, they weave pictures with rhythms and simply consider a voice another instrument" BBC Manchester on Air Cav - www.aircavmusic.co.uk / www.myspace.com/aircavmusic
- LUCKY SOUL - Female fronted five piece based in Greenwich, SE London. Brought together with an ache and a sigh and a love of quality pop songwriting. Unique yet totally accesible. Too beautiful, too catchy, too ready. Influences: Motown, Dusty Springfield, Ronettes, Smiths, New Order, Kinks, Spector. Sounds Like: Saint Etienne, Magic Numbers, Blondie, Raveonettes - www.myspace.com/luckysoulluckysoul
- ORPHAN BOY - Just as people are about to ready to write off Pete Doherty & The Babyshambles as man who squandered his talent away in the smack dens of London along come a band that remind us of everything the Libertines used to be. Orphan Boy sound like Joe Strummer and Jam-era Paul Weller jamming on a tip with a battered guitar that they lifted from a pawn shop. The fact that the look like Gonch and Tucker Jenkins from old skool Grange Hill only adds to the fact that Orphan Boy are the only band you should be watching right now. - www.orphanboy.co.uk / www.myspace.com/orphanboyuk
