Fri 10th Feb Ambrose Tompkins + the Wisemen +
Friday February 10th @ the Yorkshire House, Parliament St, Lancaster
Ambrose Tompkins + the Wismen + Rattlebus + Steve Morgan
Ambrose Tompkins from Leicester return for the 3rd time to Lancaster’s Yorkshire House. Signed to Regular Beat Records, they are promoting their newest release. They have been championed by the likes of the late John Peel and Rough Trade featured them on last year’s “Counter Culture compilation. They use some odd and old instruments, but with a distinctly contemporary feel. Comparisons with the Beta Band and Beck have been made. See www.regularbeat.com
Lancaster’s the Wisemen can also be found in the Regular Beat stable, and will be playing an electric set with some new songs and re-workings of their older material too! Expect rock n roll with fiddle, mandolin and organ! See www.thewisemen.net
Rattlebus from Liverpool combine their love of Steve Earle-esque Americana with UK new wave like the Only Ones, with a hint of early REM and the Long Ryders too! With a high-energy set full of twang and sonic punches, having honed their skills as the house band for Hell's Ditch. This is the second time Rattlebus make the trip to Lancaster - will you be hit by the Ricochet? See www.rattlebus.co.uk
Steve Morgan may be familiar to many in Lancaster as the host of LULUMS and as a member of the English Tea. He will be playing some excellent 12-string acoustic guitar!!
All this from 8.45pm ‘til 1am, for just £3!!
