On stage, clad in black shawls and cascading tresses, Marissa Nadler performs with an intricate finger-style on the guitar, ukulele, and 5-string banjo. Yet it is often her voice that is a shuttle towards another time, a soprano reverberating with melancholy and longing. Inspired by the likes of Vashti Bunyan, Leonard Cohen and Alisha Sufit, Marissa finds herself nestled nicely into the "psyche-folk" bracket that's so popular these days, alongside the likes of Born Heller, Devendra Banhart and Espers.
