Fri June 5th - The Catenary Wires at Canterbury Arms in Brixton
This month we're very excited to be doing something rather different, in that we'll be hosting a live band at the Canterbury Arms on Friday June 5th. The Catenary Wires - Amelia Fletcher and Rob Pursey of Tender Trap, Heavenly and Talulah Gosh fame - are releasing their debut album on Elefant Records on June 1st, and they're launching it with a party in their favourite pub in south London. Amelia and Rob have a long history with the Canterbury Arms - they used to live directly opposite the pub, and Amelia DJ-ed at the very first HDIF at the Canterbury back in 2003 - so this is a special venue for them. We don't usually have bands at HDIF nights in Brixton, but we're very happy to make an exception just once for The Catenary Wires.
The night will run as follows:
Doors open at 8pm
The Catenary Wires onstage at 9pm
From 10pm onwards, the gig will be followed by a club night called A Different Scene. It will feature DJ sets by Amelia and myself. Amelia will be playing a set of female fronted artists and bands - from The Shangri-Las to Kenickie and beyond - while I'll be pitching in with the usual mixture of indiepop and soul.
Admission for The Catenary Wires gig is £6. Tickets for that are here http://www.wegottickets.com/event/317788. They also include free entry to the club night afterwards.
Admission to A Different Scene is from 10pm onwards, and the price is £4 for HDIF members and £6 for non-members. Advance tickets for that are here http://www.wegottickets.com/event/317790. Membership is free from membership@howdoesitfeel.co.uk
