Friday 8th August 2014: Digital City presents Max Cooper & Shur-i-kan @ The Bussey Building
Considering Max Cooper’s only just launched his debut album, Human (“Insanely Good”- FADER, “Impossibly Gorgeous”- FACT), there’s a very good reason why he’s been invited to remix Hot Chip, was Beatport Artist of the Year, was voted one of Resident Advisor's top 20 live acts, and accumulated 70,000+ FB ‘likes’ in a blink.
Picked up by Richie Hawtin’s booking agency, and following crowd-brimming summer shows at Glastonbury, Secret Garden Party and Germany’s exalted Fusion festival, for some, techno may be at the heart of Max’s sound, but that would be unfair. His hybrid live/DJ performance explodes from delicate, reflective electronica into pounding groove within a moment, but just as fearlessly throttles back to moments of stillness and silent beauty.
Joining Max is Shur-i-kan, the redoubtable Freerange and Dark Energy deep house don, who was of course also part of improvisational supergroup, The Bays. Max and Shur-i-kan will be book-ended by Digital City’s resident electronic music aficionados, DJ BarryDark, Richtek, Remote and Tentonatom, with VJs Parallax and Mach V dropping visual bombs like it’s hot.
In fact, being summer and all- it will (should) be hot! Just as well the ever-astonishing Bussey Building will have both a roof bar and terrace open from dusk ‘til dawn.
Finally, we are also pleased to announce the return of Digital City Film, which will roll out proceedings with a selection of Shorts, Animations and Music Promos from 9pm, before the boogying gets down…
Tickets £5 advance, £4 students, more on the door:
