Sat Sept 21st - Jyoti of White Town DJs at How Does It Feel To Be Loved? at The Phoenix
Our guest DJ at HDIF at The Phoenix this Saturday is Jyoti Mishra of White Town. Jyoti DJs for us every year and the world would be a very very sorry place indeed if we didn't see his smiling face and box of floorfillers at HDIF around about now. He's best known for his genuine number one smash hit, "Your Woman", of course, which in true DIY-style, he wrote and recorded in his bedroom in Derby, but he's also a top-notch DJ, playing indie pop, electro pop and more. Come out for a dance!
Indie song of the week: "I'll Be Honest" by The Spook School. Heard this yet? I played it for the first time at HDIF in Brixton a few weeks ago and it sounded magnificent and had the dancefloor bouncing with glee. I'm going to call it the Indiepop Single Of The Year until someone else has the gumption to record something better. Take a listen here - https://soundcloud.com/fortuna-pop/the-spook-school-ill-be-honest
Sixties song of the week: "I'm Waiting For The Man" by the Velvet Underground. Just because sometimes the classics are really what you need.
