Sat Jan 19th - Bonnie And Clyde DJ at How Does It Feel To Be Loved? in London
Our guest DJs are this Saturday are Bonnie And Clyde, the fantastic Spanish DJ team from Barcelona, who've DJed at HDIF twice before and once at Indietracks, and definitely know a thing or two about getting a dancefloor hopping. Looking back over their first ever guest set at HDIF - back in 2007 - they played everything from Talulah Gosh, Tindersticks, Suburban Kids and Lloyd Cole to France Gall, Dusty, The Shangri-Las and Los Brincos, and I'm sure we can expect an equally danceable set on Saturday night. So come out! Laugh in the face of 2013's woes - beloved bands splitting, legendary club nights calling it a day, record shops closing, the temperature plummeting - and dance your way into a happier new year. That's my plan anyway and I'm sticking to it...!
Indie song of the week: "Broken Toy" by Veronica Falls. The Vronk have outdone themselves with their second album, by all accounts, and I'll reckon we'll be dancing to a lot of their songs at HDIF this year. This, off that new record, is a real gem.
Soul song of the week: "Mean Woman Blues" by Roy Orbison. Yes! Roy Orbison! At last! I was watching the BBC documentary about the Big O over Christmas and there was a three second clip of him playing this song on a TV show somewhere - at which point, I leapt onto YouTube and tracked it down. What a song! What a performance! Super danceable and full of joy. I played this at Great Big Kiss last Friday and it was glorious, so I just have to play it again at HDIF.
