Sat Sept 22 - David of Comet Gain DJs at HDIF at The Phoenix
Our guest DJ at HDIF at The Phoenix on Saturday is David from Comet Gain. David's DJ-ed at the club several times now, and has turned in a very cool vinyl-only set each time, playing 60s pop, indie pop, punk rock, and more - think Felt, The Left Banke, The Kinks, TVPs and so on.
Admission is the usual price of £4 for members and £6 for non members. Advance tickets, which guarantee entry all night, are £6 and available here - http://www.wegottickets.com/event/186428. If you're going to see Withered Hand and Darren Hayman at the Bull And Gate on Saturday night, then there's a reduced admission offer for HDIF - just show your We Got Tickets print out for the gig at the door at HDIF and you'll get one pound off entry.
Indie song of the week: "Do You Always Dress Like That In Front Of Other People's Boyfriends?" by Mambo Taxi. Quite why I haven't played this at HDIF before is a mystery, although I suspect Sarah Actionette and Amelia may have included it in their sets over the years. If you don't know this superjangly grrlpop tune, take a look at the video here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_6sXxX_1_SU
Soul song of the week: "Naughty Boy" by Jackie Day. Superlative northern soul. Take a listen to that one here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P5lkTha2y2M
