Jason Urick creates wondrously enveloping head music - ambient pop for the body and the soul that references everything from Talk Talk, Vangelis, Oneotrix Point Never, Fennesz and Gas. A kaleidoscopic sound that hints an incredibly diverse sel...ection of disparaging genres, from brittle lo-fi hooks, drugged hip-hop, throbbing submarinal-dub, the heady heights of komische synthesis and straight-bliss ambience; all are combined in a shrewdly accessible fashion. In all instances, Urick's deep experimentations/explorations have a very defined human core which bristles with life and emotion (often to bursting point), fully embracing the structure of the song. 2011's I Love You is testament to this, cloaking the listener in a radiant glow of, at times, ethno-centric grooves that are both nostalgically familiar and esoterically alluring, producing a brilliantly conflicting first impression that will be usurped when your heart swells with Uricks beautiful melodies.
