Sat Jan 21st - Dickon Edwards DJs at HDIF in central London
After a storming night at Great Big Kiss on Friday, we're really looking forward to the first HDIF of the year, this Saturday at The Phoenix! Our guest DJ, Dickon Edwards, is one of our favourite regular DJs, and he's been DJ-ing at HDIF from the very start, making his debut appearance in March 2003. He always turns in a super-danceable set of indiepop, soul and 80s pop, and is fine company to boot. Come out for a dance!
Admission is the usual price of £4 for members and £6 for non members. If you're going to see Butcher Boy at Cecil Sharp House that night, then you can get a pound off entrance at HDIF if you present your We Got Tickets print out for the Butcher Boy gig - or if you'd like to guarantee entry to HDIF, you can pick up an advance ticket here - http://www.wegottickets.com/event/150476 -
Indiepop song of the week: "Capricornia" by Allo Darlin' - Brilliant new single from the HDIF favourites.
Soul song of the week: "Whirlwind" by Rev-Lons. Handclapping, footstomping garage girl magnificence.
You can hear both of these songs on the new HDIF podcast, which was posted this morning. As well as the two songs above, there's also brand new, as yet unreleased, songs by The Wave Pictures, Tunabunny, Shrag, Tigercats, Cats On Fire and Evans The Death, and the glorious new single by The Magnetic Fields - plus the usual mixture of northern soul, girl groups and rock'n'roll.
