We return to the stunning Holy Trinity Church for another amazing Christmas Special. In keeping with previous years which have seen the likes of Slow Club, Blue Roses, The Crookes, Paul Marshall (Lone Wolf), Benjamin Weatherill and many more play the most beautiful of sets in the most beautiful of surrounds. This year to do the occasion justice we've tried to put together the most exciting line up Yorkshire has to offer right now...

"...the arrival of a genuine creative force in British folk music" * * * * 8/10 Drowned in Sound
"Vibrant folk-pop with a stunning voice to savour" * * * * Uncut
"Inventively arranged, sweet without being cloying, there's just the right hint of weirdness and mystery lurking beneath the fragile folk pop surface... in a word, charming." * * * * Q
"delightfully arranged folk-pop... it brims with inventive keyboards, brass and strings" * * * * Mojo
We welcome a very special headliner for our very special venue, a phenomenal talent in modern folk, in 2010 her debut solo release, the Rebox EP came out on the awesome Static Caravan label who she then recorded her debut album for with Tunng's Mike Lindsay and Nitin Sawhney composing strings for two tracks. It has been gathering richly deserved plaudits from every corner of the UK's music press being named as a "One to Watch" for 2011 by Mojo & The Independent amongst others.
A move from Yorkshire to London; supporting and playing with the likes of The Unthanks, Duke Special, David Ford & Caitlin Rose with TV appearances on Later and live shows at Glastonbury, Greenman and many other summer festivals. Hannah will be touring with her full band which features some rather excellent and very familiar musicians.
With amazing support from...
Sam Airey

“The EP is a beautiful representation of Sam’s deft picking skills combined with warmly delivered lyrics that seem to covet the sanctuary of a calmer life back on his native Anglesey” - Drowned In Sound
“Wales’ answer to Bon Iver…a very special artist” – Bethan Elfyn, BBC Radio Wales/BBC Radio One
“Glorious…got to play more of him” - Huw Stephens, BBC Radio One
“(The Blackout is..) simply gorgeous…this track could sit quite easily on a Bright Eyes or Iron & Wine record” – Tom Robinson, BBC 6Music
Following his stunning packed out show here at Live at Leeds along with recent festival appearences and BBC Radio 1 session with Huw Stevens Sam will be wowing the crowd with his simple, tender songs about death and the seaside.

Still relative newcomers but already causing quite a stir with their delightful harmonies set above wonderfully quirky instrumentations, asked to play Greenman Festival this year and fully endorsed by the likes of Ellen & The Escapades.
Me & My Friends

"Quirky, joyful... a wonderful sound that combines some serious artful tones with a sense of fun... delightful" - forfolksake.com
Blending disparate styles seamlessly into an entrancing, charming whole. Delicate folk melodies sit alongside syncopated rhythms of reggae, ska, highlife, bossa nova... These unlikely crossings are held together by smart musicianship, youthful energy and the wonderful combination of Nick Rasle's vocals and the unusual combination of Guitar, Cello, Saxophone & Djembina.
Modern carols from "These Men"
http://www.myspace.com/thesementheband
Our alternative Christmas Carols come in the form of male vocal harmonies, 5 "men" led by Morgan of 'Buen Chico' inspired by J S Bach, barbershop, doo-wop, Beach Boys, Beta Band, TV on the Radio, who knows what else will be greating you with a series of classic sounds with modern twists.
Plus bridging the gap between Paul Simon and Mumford and Sons our wonderful host as always is Scottish singer/songwriter Gary Stewart. Following the release of his fantastic debut album he’s been capturing audiences with his enchanting live shows, filled with stories of love, paranoia and prostitution, he always delivers them with honesty, passion and a good measure of Celtic flair.
plus guest DJs, mulled wine, and other suprises!
