Camden Crawl presents 'Variety' Nov 9th: Echo Lake, Icona Pop, comedians James Redmond and Joel Dommett & more - free entry
Following the Camden Crawl 2012 ticket launch and opening event of the festival’s new fortnightly VARIETY club series featuring an acclaimed line up of comedy from Phil Nichol and Tiernan Douieb, Rough Trade Shops Pop Quiz, live performances from Young Legionnaire and Two Wounded Birds, the Crawl is pleased to announce the full line up for its second Variety event. London’s stunning Echo Lake and Swedish alt pop sensations Icona Pop, join a polished line up of stand up comedy from James Redmond and Joel Dommett on Wednesday 9th November at the Star of Kings in Kings X. The free entry evening welcomes attendance from 6pm for happy hour and to intellectually warm up with a slightly demented and particularly challenging pop quiz hosted by Camden Town’s Great Rock & Roll Quiz masters.
To promote the cross pollination of the arts and represent the diversity of Camden Crawl’s programming, the festival launched Variety in October. Far from a typical gig night, VARIETY is what it says on the tin. Described by organisers as “four great nights out in one”, Variety is an eclectic assortment of cutting edge comedy, London’s most competitive pop quizzes with guest DJs and a very special live music guest each week.

Line Up:
THE GREAT ROCK & ROLL QUIZ (7pm) Prosperous music svengalis and historians, Piers Miller and Andy Ross host their ridiculous monthly music quiz at Variety for the first time. Pit your wits against North London’s premier musical quizmasters. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll argue about the geographical features of Essex!
JAMES REDMOND (8pm) A dry, slick and subtle stand up who delivers unexpected twists and turns during his set as he deconstructs his art. Our compere for the night has made his name as a model and actor and is now earning his reputation as one of the funniest comedians on the circuit.
JOEL DOMMETT (8.15pm) Joel has made a huge impact on the comedy circuit since 2007and now performs regularly at comedy events across the UK. Never failing to reduce the audience into bouts of uncontrollable laughter, this incredibly talented comedian has a unique approach and delivery that makes for the ultimate stand up. www.joeldommett.com
ECHO LAKE (9pm) London-based five-piece Echo Lake produce wonderfully mesmerizing lo-fi pop soundscapes which sit somewhere comfortably between Warpaint’s dreamlike atmospheres and The Concretes at their most melancholic. They have got the songs – gorgeous yet gloriously dirty shoegaze – as well as the look to capture both fancy and imagination. www.echolakeband.com
ICONA POP (DJ Set) (9.45pm) This talented duo from Stockholm make the kind of forward-thinking, effortlessly cool pop that seems second nature to most Scandinavians. Their sophisticated brand of glistening electropop earned them a record deal with Mercury and we’re very pleased to announce they’ll be spinning some great tunes for us on the night. www.iconapop.com
