"We are in complete awe of what Bounce are doing. The funds raised through Compressed Fest will help us buy some much needed musical instruments for our Arches drop-in centre. The children we support have so much creative talent just waiting to be unlocked. But even more important is the role that music and creative expression can play for children and young people who have experienced severe trauma and neglect. On behalf of the kids we thank everyone at Bounce, and everyone supporting the event, from the bottom of our heart."
Neera Dhingra, Kids Company
The line up for Compressedfest, a one-day festival organised by children’s charity Bounce, has been announced.
Compressedfest will squeeze a full programme of live bands, comedy, DJs and stalls into The Miller, London Bridge on Saturday, July 23rd from 12pm-4am. All acts are donating performances free of charge, with proceeds going towards musical instruments and equipment for underprivileged kids in London (via partner charity, Kids Company, see ‘notes to editors’ section below for full details of the charity).
The musical offering combines alternative and unsigned bands, representing a wide variety of genres. Highlights include Manchester multi-instrumentalist (and former member of indie darlings Keith) Douga, Brighton’s haunting singer songwriter Stewart Warwick and Mais Um Gringo, the man behind last year’s acclaimed Oi! A Nova Musica Brasileira! compilation.
In the comedy room, a host of high-profile comedians will road test their Edinburgh material. These include duos Max and Ivan, Dregs and Allnutt and Simpson and stand-ups Jim Campbell, Joe Rowntree and Chris Martin.
Other attractions include a line-up of DJs, exhibition ping-pong from The London Ping Pong Company, pop-up hairdressing, a vintage and sample sale, The Tena Ladies tea emporium, bicycle clinic, festival food stalls and not a drop of mud in sight.
Tickets for Compressedfest are on sale now, at the earlybird price of £11 plus booking fee. Book online at http://compressedfest.eventbrite.com
