Sat Apr 16 - Pat Nevin DJs at HDIF's 9th Birthday Party!
We're very very pleased to say that this Saturday is our ninth birthday party. Nine years! Our guest DJ is Pat Nevin, the Chelsea footballer and all-round indie legend, who last DJ-ed at HDIF at our fifth birthday party back in 2006. More recently, Pat DJ-ed at Bowlie 2, turning in a superb set on the Sunday night, even prompting the crowd to do a conga to Orange Juice, which is quite some feat!
This night is also our T-Shirt Weather Special, which we always do when the sun decides to make an appearance. If such an item lurks in your wardrobe, could you please come along wearing a band or music related t-shirt. It could be a smart Belle & Sebastian or Pains Of Being Pure At Heart tee or a vintage Heavenly or Hefner shirt, or a Motown or northern soul related t-shirt if that's what you prefer, but really any music related t-shirt is cool. Part of the fun is seeing who turns up in what, and who pitches up in the Ol' Dirty Bastard t-shirt this year...! (Although if your fashion sense extends to sharp shirts or gorgeous 50s dresses rather than the humble tee, then please come along in your regular stylish attire...)
Indie song of the week: "Little Surprise" by The Wave Pictures. Hurrah! My favourite British indie pop band is back back back. Can't wait for the new album...
Soul song of the week: "Black Is Black" by Big Maybelle. Excellent cover of the Los Bravos classic.
