FREE Fallen Leaves gig, Brighton Hydrant April 16th
West London's finest garage group featuring former members of Subway Sect return to Brighton, downstairs @ The Hydrant, 75 London Road.
Since 2004 The Fallen Leaves have performed all over London, Europe & visited the US. Hosts to the excellent Parliament Club off Ladbroke Grove, they've made 2 albums and guested on Marc Riley's 6Music radio show. Now's your chance to catch them live again by the sea (OK, near Preston Circus).
(Stewart Lee, Sunday Times 11/09)
"The Fallen Leaves’ guitarist, Rob Symmons, and their vocalist, Rob Green, were members of Subway Sect, who played at the seminal 100 Club Punk Rock Festival in 1976, but their new band’s punchy mod-punk mix remains utterly timeless and crackles with speedy fizz. Writing these sort of songs, where vintage valve-amp-powered guitars slice and dice dinky 1960s pop melodies, feels like a forgotten folk art, so be grateful that the Fallen Leaves’ second album is keeping it alive. The International Brigade is the record’s psychedelic magnum opus, stretching to a comparatively lengthy four minutes, with Symmons throwing pop-art shapes over military drumming".
