Since the folk revival of the 1960s, bands have employed lush string arrangements to lift their music beyond the conventional. Tonight promises an evening of sublime folk music featuring violinist Mike Siddell (The Miserable Rich, Hope Of The States). Over the last three years, Siddell has influenced much of the output of Brighton's Wilkommen Collective, incl uding The Leisure Society, Sons Of Noel and Adrian, and most notably The Miserable Rich, whose baroque indie sound is driven by the strings.
This is sure to be a very special one-off night of folk music, where Mike is joined by some very special guests to perform brand new arrangements of original and traditional folk songs, commissioned especially for this Arctic Circle show.
Guest singers on the night will be:
Jo Bartlett, Essie Jain, Jennifer Left (Gloria Cycles), James de Malplaquet (The Miserable Rich), Sam De La Haye, Danni Nicholls, Gordon Graham (Lucky Jim), Sam Herlihy (The Northwestern, Hope of the States) and Martin Aloysius Brignall (The Train Chronicles)
