Sat Feb 19th - Darren Hayman DJs at HDIF in central London
We're very pleased to say that Darren Hayman is returning to HDIF in central London this Saturday for his annual guest DJ spot. Fresh from his January Songs project, in which he wrote a song every day for all of January, he'll be playing his usual mix of indie pop, folk, country rock and more. I think my favourite of his guest sets was on New Year's Eve in 2006, when he played Apples In Stereo amongst others - let's see what he comes up with for us this time!
Indie song of the week: "Angelyne" by Help Stamp Out Loneliness. We're not meant to tell anyone this, but we've got the forthcoming debut album by Help Stamp Out Loneliness and it's absolutely stunning, pure pop genius from start to finish. You can hear the first three songs from the record on their Bandcamp page now, including this gem - http://helpstampoutloneliness.bandcamp.com/track/angelyne-2
Soul song of the week: "I Don't Need No Doctor" by Ray Charles. Storming old school R&B perfection from Uncle Ray.
