Sat Nov 20th - Rocker DJs at How Does It Feel To Be Loved? in central London
This Saturday our guest DJ at HDIF at The Phoenix is Rocker, an indiepop legend who was in both The Flatmates and The Rosehips and now DJs for internet radio station Dandelion Radio. Rocker's both an indiepop aficionado and a northern soul expert - he's a regular DJ at the northern nights in his hometown of Bristol - so I'm looking forward to hearing him play a floorfilling set.
If you'd like to make a day of it, Dandelion Radio and Oddbox are putting on a free gig at RoTa in Notting Hill on Saturday afternoon, to celebrate the launch of "Broadcast One", a compilation album put together by the Dandelion DJs. The Chasms, Spidersleg, Hazel Winters and Alica Casper are playing live and an assortment of Dandelion DJs, including Rocker, will be playing records. They'll also be giving away flyers which will give you a pound off entry to HDIF later that night. Hurrah!
Indie song of the week: "Heart In Your Heartbreak" by Pains Of Being Pure At Heart. Headspinningly good comeback single from the Pains!
Soul song of the week: "The Real Thing" by Tina Britt. A close cousin to "Heatwave", but a brilliant dancer nevertheless!
