SINGING ADAMS?
Better known as singer/guitarist/songwriter from The Broken Family Band, Steven Adams called time on that outfit at the end of last year. Less than a year later he's back with a new band kicking out super-catchy choruses, great harmonies and showcasing his trademark lyrical incision. Melinda Bronstein (Absentee, Wet Paint), Matthew Ashton (The Leaf Library, Saloon) and Michael Wood (Michaelmas) bring a wealth of influences to the band, which comes off like a cross between Spoon, Syd Barrett and a Phil Spector compilation. But more fun. After a handful of shambolic, jubilant London shows Singing Adams were booked for End Of The Road festival (where they were one of the surprise hits of the weekend) and the main stage at Green Man festival... and they look set for greater things, with their first single due out in December.
"The lyrics are great and the sing-along moments are rather lovely too. And if the band thing doesn’t work out, Steve has a sure fire future in stand-up comedy." (For Folks Sake)

THE LOST CAVALRY
The Lost Cavalry are a London-based alternative folk band formed in 2009 by vocalist Mark West, formerly the guitarist of Fanfarlo. Their new single 'The Elephant of Castlebar Hill” is released on 15th November 2010 on their own label 'Two Six Heave'. They sing about boats setting sail to faraway places, ghostly soldiers and of course ill-fated circus elephants, set to folk-noise, marching-band, electric-circus music. The wonderful array of instruments makes an interesting music box, with the imagination and talent to turn these stories into beautiful songs.
"A new project by Mark West, the former guitarist from Fanfarlo we've been loving the beautiful indie/folk sounds of this great new band." (Offline)

BIG DEAL
Big Deal is Kacey Underwood and Alice Costelloe. They both sing, they both write and they both play guitar. With a First Sight piece in The Guardian coming after just their second show, it’s fair to say that there is something a little special going on here - the dual vocals combining to great effect across “Homework” and on their cover of arguably Big Star’s most enduring song, “Thirteen”. Big Deal conjur up woozy, lo-fi folk, understated and discreet music for the early hours, both beautiful and fragile.
“The music recreates the feelings of long, lustful summer afternoons in bed. It's intimate and beautiful.” (The Guardian)
