Fri Nov 5th - The Wave Pictures DJ at HDIF in Brixton
We're very happy to say that our guests at HDIF in Brixton this month are The Wave Pictures. Dave, Franic and Jonny have DJ-ed a couple of times at the Phoenix, but this will be their first visit to Brixton so please come along and make them feel welcome. The Wave Pictures are one of those bands that we're incredibly lucky to have around I think - I can't think of anyone as charming, endearing, life-affirming and downright lovable.
Indie song of the week: "Stay Single" by Mighty Clouds. Fred and Betty of SLGTM are back back back with a brilliant new band! You can download this song for free from here - http://mightyclouds.bandcamp.com/ - or mp3s of the entire album are a mere five dollars. Bargain!
Soul song of the week: "Don't Knock It" by Sinner Strong. My favourite bit of last weekend's Da Doo Ron Ron was when Jon Slade started playing a seven inch single, realised he'd put on the wrong side, stopped the song, picked it up, turned it over, slammed it down, and pressed play...only for this monster to come roaring out of the speakers.
