Sat Oct 16th - Belle & Sebastian special at HDIF in town
If it's October, it must be our annual Belle & Sebastian album special! This year was meant to be the turn of "The Life Pursuit", but as B&S's new album is out this week, we thought it'd be more fun to feature that instead. So we'll be playing every song from "Write About Love" over the course of the evening. Come along and dance to "I Want The World To Stop", "Write About Love", "I Didn't See It Coming" and the rest! We'll be playing the first selection from the album at 9.15pm and then the rest of the songs will be peppered throughout the night. Our guest DJ is Simon Balthazar from Fanfarlo and he'll be on from 10.30-midnight. Simon was our guest a few years ago and played a brilliant set - I remember "Human Fly" by The Cramps being a highlight - so it'll be interesting to see what he comes up with for Saturday night!
Indie song of the week: "Twisterella" by Ride. I meant to play this at the last HDIF in Brixton, but didn't get round to it, so it's definitely getting a spin on Saturday. Fantastic jangle-pop from the legendary shoegazers.
Soul song of the week: "Everybody Needs Somebody To Love" by Solomon Burke. In tribute to the legendary soul singer, who passed away on Sunday.
Any requests? What would you like to hear on Saturday night?
