New York no wave group Swans and industrial metal pioneers Godflesh will play the Arches in the week following their co-headline slot at this year's jam packed Supersonic festival.
With Swans' latest album My Father Will Guide Me Up A Rope To The Sky released in September, this show will see Michael Gira, Norman Westerberg, Christoph Hahn, Phil Puelo, Thor Harris and Chris Pravdica playing a mixture of new tracks and the heavier Swans material, such as Your Property, Raping A Slave, Power For Power and New Mind.
Officially disbanding in 2002, the band who left a legacy to the metal world - inspiring the likes of Korn, Metallica and Pitchshifter - play their third UK gig in ten years. Drawing inspiration from Whitehouse, Swans, Black Sabbath and Brian Eno, Godflesh used drum machine beats beneath droning guitars, powerful, crunching bass and a gutteral death growl technique to create a menacing sound which has repeatedly been described as "apocalyptic". Featuring Justin Broadrick and Benny Green, Godflesh are joined by Zeni Geva and Loss Leader.
