JAILBREAK
A rare live outing for a collaboration between former Charalambides, Scorces and Taurpis Tula member and occasional Jandek collaborator, the future-blues pedal steel player Heather Leigh and free-drumming titan Chris Corsano, who’s been involved with Sunburned Hand Of The Man, Vibracathedral Orchestra, Flower-Corsano Duo, Rangda, Evan Parker, Thurston Moore, Nels Cline and Björk, to name a few.
Jailbreak play improvised music that dispenses with traditional notions of call and response or dialogue in favour of a profound simultaneity that bears instant forms from the application of high energy strategies. Leigh’s steel mainlines sanctified slide guitar sources and deforms them with overdriven electricity. Corsano detonates time, blows it to pieces, in favour of a profound polyrhythmic feel that would confuse past and future. Yet the whole thing rocks like it hasn’t a braincell to spare, re-connecting avant garde tactics and arse-kicking rama-lama with alla the revolutionary fanfare of the most radical counter-cultural two-chord punk. Their debut LP, The Rocker, is out now on Family Vineyard.

TIME
Semi-improvised, crystalline melodies encounter subtle psyche-drone and felt-textured synths to create pieces reminiscent of the dark underbelly of Charalambides. Curious and distant tender laments from Frances Morgan (Plan B magazine) and Mark Dicker.
