Black & White Music and Monkeysuit present an all day pre-party on Thursday 26th Aug at The Oakford Social Club to get the public hyped and in the festival spirit before the Reading weekend main event. A very special warm up live set from Frankie & The Heartstrings, an all-day BBQ in the courtyard and hopefully a whole lotta sun!
The venue is open from the morning for breakfasts, and an all day BBQ in the courtyard. There will be playstation games, raffles and DJ sets until 2am. Djs from 6 pm and live acts take to the stage from 8.30pm.
FRANKIE & THE HEARTSTRINGS
Our headliners, Frankie & The Heartstrings are one of the most hyped new bands of the year, and justifiably so, as before they even had any music up on their myspace they were booked for Radio 1’s Big Weekend, Glastonbury, Latitude, and of course Reading & Leeds Festival. Massive critical acclaim has also been achieved from NME, Sunday Times Culture, Clash Magazine, The Guardian and Huw Stephens Radio 1.
Catch them at The Oakford before they open the NME/Radio 1 stage on Friday morning.
“Unashamedly stylish and ferociously literate” – NME
“Frankie & The Heartstrings combine the always important great hair with a kind of old-fashioned starriness and charisma” – SUNDAY TIMES CULTURE
“They don’t make ‘em quite like Frankie & The Heartstrings anymore. Indebted to a lineage of vintage indie bands like Pulp, Orange Juice and The Smiths, they make retro-romantic anthems full of swooning and crooning” - CLASH
“Their stomping sound – which is surely scientifically impossible to dislike – dips into Dexys circa Searching for the Young Soul Rebels, mid-period Clash, 60s pop, Orange Juice, northern soul, romance and literature without loitering anywhere.” – THE GUARDIAN
MR FOGG
Electronica-pop act Mr Fogg has been having a busy year...
Released his debut album Moving Parts (produced by Valgeir Sigurðsson – Bjork/Maps/Múm) to critical acclaim.
Remixed Marina & the diamonds and has been remixed by Jakwob.
Recorded live session’s for Radio 1, 6 Music and XFM.
Plus played The Secret Garden, Truck and Standon Calling festivals.
Like with Frankie, you can catch Mr Fogg before he plays on Friday on the BBC Introducing stage.
"A beautiful chronometric collision of twinkling bells and freefalling harps" - NME
"Sharp, accessible electro-pop" - Q
"Crystalline, spindly and cool electronica" - ARTROCKER
"Ace Ace Ace" - HUW STEPHENS, BBC RADIO 1
