MAZES

Mazes have been the support for everybody who’s anybody visiting Manchester over the past year. Mazes matched many of these and even topped a few for me. Mazes were born to play in dark scuzzy venues to late night revellers, so a headline show at Underachievers had to happen at some point. Don’t miss it now it is!
‘Mazes are simply going about their business, making better music than pretty much every other band in the country.’ – Pigeon Post
BROWN BROGUES

Scuzzy garage blues two-piece. One half pure energetic shredding, one half menacing and hypnotic drumming; altogether makes for a compelling live show. Currently being talked about by every blog in the land.
Suffering Jukebox (The Deaf Institute’s record label) are putting a tape of theirs out soon, with the blogspot recently describing them as ‘the best band currently trawling the minefield that is the Manchester gig circuit.’ With praise like this, you really cannot afford to miss them playing now!
BOY OR BISON

‘Just another 60’s lo-fi doo-wop girl group. If they weren’t 3 men from Leigh’. – Shrieking Violet. Boy or Bison were formed through a mutual love of 60s girl groups, doo wop, surf jams and twin peaks. They write songs about sci fi and heartbreak. They went down a storm with their perfect summer jams at Underachievers in April.
WAITERS

'Manchester trio WAITERS, are all of the above, which admittedly is an acquired taste. But through these ears that’s just fine. Bizarrely tuned and rampantly fuzzy guitars keep things interesting and while Waiters are certainly lo-fi, they’re certainly pop so there’s a definite tune there'. - Manchester Music
And when all this is said and done, Underachievers will play a mix of ours and yours favourite tunes until the real late early hours, including the likes of-
Best Coast - The National – Belle & Sebastian – The Pains of Being Pure at Heart – Wild Nothing – Arcade Fire - Sonic Youth - Interpol – Broken Social Scene – Pavement – The Vaselines – SFA – Electrelane - Magnetic Fields – Wolf Parade - Camera Obscura – Weezer – Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Deerhunter – Bjork – Dum Dum Girls – Radiohead – Pixies – Why? – British Sea Power – Jens Lekman – Allo, Darlin’ – The Cure – No Age - Veronica Falls - The School – 60’s stuff
