Emerging from the same west coast US scene as bands such as No Age, Silver Daggers and Bodies of Water, LA noise rock band HEALTH started out playing the free gig scene, hanging out in LA venue The Smell. Their intense live sound soon landed them a flurry of bookings, including the opening slot for Nine Inch Nails on their US tour in 2008. Combining haunting, disaffected vocal drones, intense screaming, insane drums and beautifully crafted, raw noise, the band also stood out for their use of the Zoothorn, a permutation of microphone and guitar pedal, used to produce atonal sounds.

With both albums being remixed by ::Disco2 (HEALTH, known unofficially as And You Will Love Each Other, in 2008 and Get Colour in 2010), a collaboration with Crystal Castles in 2007, the launch of their one-of-a-kind, hand-sewn fashion label this year and future plans for an internet TV show (entitled HEALTHvision), HEALTH have enviably cemented an intriguing reputation as a staple across many corners of the cultural world, from noisecore fanatics
to metallers to electro kids.
