“When I finally got to see them live, I was transformed into a hysterical nine-year-old girl at a Beatles concert.” Kurt Cobain
The super influential all-female Japanese pop-punk band originally formed in Osaka in 1981. They captured the hearts of seminal 90’s alt. rock bands, counting the likes of Thurston Moore and Kurt Cobain as avid fans, and perhaps best expressed when over twenty different bands including L7, Babes In Toyland, Redd Kross, and White Flag came together to record renditions of their favourite Shonen Knife songs for a tribute album “Every Band Has A Shonen Knife Who Loves Them”. They went on to tour the world with Nirvana (opening on the Nevermind tour), The Breeders, Sonic Youth, BMX Bandits, and as part of travelling alternative rock festival Lollapolooza. They’ve recorded sessions for John Peel, appeared on MTV’s Beavis and Butthead, 120 minutes, the Conan O’Brian show and wrote ‘Buttercup (I’m a Supergirl)’ for the hugely popular cartoon ‘The Powerpuff Girls’.
In 2009 they released their 14th album, ‘Super Group’, toured the UK, Europe, Australia and just finished a 30 date tour across the USA. The band are very excited to be playing All Tomorrow’s Parties festival curated by Matt Groening in May, along with the release of their 15th album “Free Time”!
"Shonen Knife are one of the most important bands in history, even if the world at large doesn’t know it” Japan Times
"Objectively, it could be pointed out that they can only play in a rudimentary fashion, that their songs are ludicrously simple and that they are not doing anything new. Objectivity can fuck right off, because Shonen Knife are brilliant” Artrocker
Screaming Tea Party
2 thirds Japanese indie punk/psychedelic rock trio from London are signed to Stolen records and were featured on the FM tv series.
“Complex in their simplicity and a nexus of electricity reminiscent of Sonic Youth having sex with a bulldozer”.Drowned In Sound
“Screaming Tea Party are a band you’re gonna think you discovered when you were 13. They pack in snippets of every record you’ve ever owned, and sound like a sloppy first kiss that precedes a punch in the teeth, without sounding dated or cliched”Dazed & Confused

Recent signings to Damnably and one of London’s most exciting bands. Formed in 05’, and fronted by half-Japanese siblings Simon and Toshi Kobayashi and backed by the rhythm section of Matt and Ruth Atkins, Smallgang are tightly knit and tightly wound, distilling an eclectic mix of influences through a restless and inquisitive mindset that sets them apart from much of today’s ‘indie’ scene.
Sounding something like Johnny Cash fronting Sonic Youth or Smog’s Bill Callahan holding his own in front of Dinosaur Jr.
“Smallgang have pop sensibilities with a forlorn twist. If you’re a regular All Tomorrows Parties punter then this slice of melancholy pop is for you” Artrocker
“… odd mash up of Pavement, Kings Of Leon and Smog esque vocals. Sounds crazy but it does work.” Norman Records

Are George and Rama: Radio 6/Resonance FM featured East London born, X-Lazarus Clamp bassist and X Slowcore drummer from East Seoul playing their first show together in 3 years, with special guest Chiara Meattelli.
“A genre defying intelligent edgy song smith that producing the kind of mortally sad, black humoured alt. folk that reminiscent of Lambchop, Mountain Goats and on occasion Shellac.” Silver Rocket
They’ve shared stages with Pikachu/Afrirampo, Steve Malkmus, Chris Brokaw, Julie Doiron, Thee More Shallows, Mick Turner (Dirty Three), and David Grubbs.
“like (smog) on holiday in shellac” Drowned in Sound
“a gentleman blessed with an imposing baritone halfway between Bill Callahan and Absentee.” The Line of Best Fit
