FILTHY DUKES need little in the way of introduction...their infamous Kill Em All parties (fitting for this year's Standon Calling theme..) have seen megastars like Justice, Crystal Castles, Erol Alkan, James Murphy grace the Fabric stage. Their debut album Nonsense in the Dark (again, seems fitting for Standon!) stormed its way into every connoisseur’s record bag and became a firm favourite for everyone who likes their synthpop with a filthy bass and ass-shaking beats. If anyone can get the party started, it's these boys. http://www.myspace.com/filthydukes
Playing live are 3 of our favourite new bands... all three completely unique, but brilliant.
“A journey into the sublime” (8/10 NME) – NORTH ATLANTIC OSCILLATION bring “intriguing oddness” (****UNCUT) with their ambitious debut album Grappling Hooks. As soon as we found this band we fell in love –winding melodies constantly changing and developing – it’s fascinating stuff. Don’t listen to us, listen to The Quietus - “among this year's debuts, North Atlantic Oscillation's may be the most wildly exciting of the lot..”.http://www.myspace.com/naoband
Mothlite warp weird and wonderful nocturnal panoramas with Escher-like interiors, rooms within rooms. One of our favourite acts from last year's festival, they join us for a rare appearance showcasing some new tracks to tease and tempt your darkest imagination. Drawn from the same vein as Cocteau Twins, Japan, Talk Talk and Kate Bush. http://www.myspace.com/mothlite
Clock Opera weave beautiful soundscapes full of eccentric charm. Staggeringly talented, this truly is music that makes you weak at the knees. Keep an eye on our twitter as we'll be giving away their brilliant Phenomenal Handclap Band remix in the next few weeks. http://www.myspace.com/clockopera
Also on the decks is Tom Ravenscroft whose encyclopaedic music knowledge and penchant for parties is sure to gel the whole debacle together. Simples!
