Betsey Trotwood FREE GIG! Wed 21st April.
Playing live upstairs,
Piper’s Son is a new arrangement which plays compact and intense songs built on percussion, guitar, electronics and lap steel. The music combines a lust for odd melody and rhythm with vivid lyrics, and the performances tend towards an immediate, lo-fi directness perfectly suited to the material. www.myspace.com/stoleapig
Bob Constant & The Goodbye Horses has been variously described as ‘asymmetric acoustic thrash-folk-pop’, ‘wonky guitar psych-pop’ and ‘a velvety cloak of sublime tunefulness and wonderfully meandering folk.’ The band’s reference points include Captain Beefheart, Nina Simone, Why? and Pixies among many, many others. www.myspace.com/bobconstant
Micko Westmoreland creates beautiful, layered music which draws on influences ranging from Beck to Bowie, Nick Drake to Talk Talk's Mark Hollis. He has been making records since 1996, initially as The Bowling Green. His output also includes soundtracks for the films The Fluffer and Quinceañera (Echo Park LA); and his latest album, Wax & Wayne, was released last year on Sartorial Records. www.myspace.com/mickomusique
