DARREN HAYMAN AND THE SECONDARY MODERN
Former Hefner front man Darren Hayman appears with the latest line-up of his band The Secondary Modern to play a special Fortuna POP! curated show. Expanded to a six-piece Hayman’s band will be playing a mixture of old and new material, including songs from his critically acclaimed last album "Pram Town", as well as previewing numbers from his forthcoming record on Fortuna POP! “Essex Arms”. This is the perfect opportunity for Hefner fans and Hayman acolytes alike to catch their man in his prime as he continues this productive stage of his elaborate artistic journey, evoking a nostalgic and romantic atmosphere with songs about life and love in the suburbs that showcase his eye for detail and ear for folk-pop melodies.
"London's poet laureate of sexual dysfunction, discomfort, and dog-eared under-achievement… the match of Ray Davies, or any of the quintessentially English masters." (The Guardian)

ALLO, DARLIN’
Allo Darlin' are many things. They can turn a room in a famous punk venue into a joyous, jumping, sweaty, pop-mosh pit. Or bring a room of 500 to hushed silence with the few strums of a ukulele and a love song about cooking. They’ve wowed the crowds at the Indietracks, Swn and SXSW festivals and been played on BBC Radio 1, BBC 6music and XFM. The single “Henry Rollins Don’t Dance” was described by The Guardian as "the best indiepop song for years" while follow-up “The Polaroid Song” made Drowned In Sound’s Top Fifty of 2009. Their latest single “Dreaming” was voted Single Of The Week on Steve Lamacq’s Round Table by no less than Jarvis, Peter Hook and Huw Stephens, seeing off MGMT and Kate Nash in the process! Allo Darlin’s self-titled debut album will be released in June.
"I'm sort of scared at how brilliant Allo Darlin' are, and could be. Disarming and self-effacing they might be, but when they smack you square on the nose with a pop song so instantly loveable as 'The Polaroid Song' it makes my jaw drop in awe." (A Layer of Chips)

DAVID TATTERSALL (THE WAVE PICTURES)
David Tattersall is the singer, songwriter and guitarist for beloved cult band The Wave Pictures whose Violent Femmes-meets-Jonathan Richman askew pop has seen them tour with the esteemed likes of Jeffrey Lewis, Herman Dune and The Mountain Goats. Here he showcases songs from his solo album 'Happy for a while', written and recorded in Berlin during the spring of 2009 with the assistance of Clemence Freschard and Stanley Brinks (AKA Andre Herman Dune) and released on Where It’s At Is Where You Are records in April.
“Comfy, acoustically melodic and rather nice. A bit like Noah and the Whales' mellower stuff but with more of a story.” (Brilldream)
