Fri March 5th - Paul Court of The Primitives DJs at HDIF in Brixton
Our guest DJ is Paul Court of The Primitives, who is a brilliant, brilliant DJ. He plays strictly off vinyl and mixes up indiepop stuff like Jonathan Richman and Yo La Tengo with sixties soul, freakbeat and the like. The last time he DJ-ed at the Canterbury Arms, he conjured a secret beat club out of thin air, getting everyone grooving to his supremely cool selections. Can't wait to see what he has in store for us this time around.
Indie song of the week - Dum Dum Girls, "Jail La La". Super-lovable fuzzpop from LA.
Soul song of the week - The Shirelles, "Mama Said". One of those songs that always make me swoon...
Hope to see you on Friday!
