4/3:CHARLES HAYWARD TRIO + WART BITER @ Jamboree, Limehouse
Charles Hayward is a legendary drummer, known for his work with This Heat, Massacre, and Camberwell Now. He's joined by saxophonist Tomas Challenger (Ma, Red Snapper, Loop Collective), and bassist Nick Doyne-Ditmas. Their music can be described as ultra-telepathic shape bending acoustic improv, veering from the rootsy, to the abstract, to genuinely euphoric. This band rarely surfaces, so definitely not to be missed!
Wart Biter is Colin Webster (Chik Budo) on saxophone, Toby McLaren from Led Bib on synthesiser, and the double-headed beast of a rhythm section that is Gum Takes Tooth's Tom Fugelsang on drums - triggering Jussi Brightmore's rig of synths and effects. Wart Biter combine pugilistic beats, scattershot improv, and lovely big synth noise.
These two amazing bands are performing in the intimate surroundings of Jamboree. This fantastic new venue is hidden away in Cable Street Studios (an arts complex at the very end of Cable Street), and gives the impression you've entered a WWII French resistance hang-out, as opposed to an industrial estate in Limehouse!
